We are parents of FLHS students. We are aware that there have been legitimate air quality concerns at FLHS, particularly in the basement level. Though we understand that the Fairfield Public Schools contracted with an engineering firm to test these areas, we believe another data point regarding air quality is a reasonable request. Therefore we ask Fairfield Public Schools and/or the Fairfield Board of Education to authorize parent representative(s)' measurements of FLHS classrooms using an air quality monitors which can measure: carbon dioxide, dew point (humidity levels), temperature, volatile compounds and formaldehyde. The results of these measurements shall be shared with all stakeholders.

The FLHS administration and the Fairfield Public Schools's administration have informed that there are no current health concerns present due to air quality at FLHS. If this is the case, then Fairfield Public Schools should not bar this request to obtain another set of data. Questions regarding the validity of these parent measurements, if applicable, can be addressed through a dialogue with involved parties.

We therefore support parent representative(s) using air quality monitors to take measurements at FLHS. Fairfield Public Schools should reconsider and permit such parent representatives to obtain another data set regarding FLHS's air quality.

We are currently drafting a formal letter to the Board of Education requesting a meeting to discuss the logistics of parent-led air quality monitoring. While we await their response, our legal counsel is reviewing the district policies to ensure our request remains compliant with local regulations. I will notify the group as soon as a formal appointment is confirmed.
