Come on Council traffic in Porters Lane needs urgent attention. The high rise has created the problem.

My daily morning walk includes Porters Lane. I can attest to the fact it is a rat-run, at speed, as drivers seek to beat the traffic lights they would otherwise encounter. Also I reckon more than 90% of cars do not stop at the STOP sign. I've stood and watched cars and the only ones coming to a complete stop are those who have no option because a car is passing across in front of them. I've observed three collisions this year where cars go straight through the STOP sign and crash into cars crossing. Porter's lane needs to be one-way. I don't agree with speed bumps. Reduce the speed limit to 40kpm.
KMC, there is no good reason to get on with this without delay. Local roads need to be safe for residents. Not for the convenience of commuter traffic just trying a save a few minutes of their time at the expense of residents safety.

Visiting our friends in Porters Lane is really stressful because the lane is just that: a lane. There is insufficient room for cars to pass each other safely. Because there is a constant stream of impatient drivers either approaching or following there is no time to check your whereabouts necessary if you are an infrequent visitor and little opportunity to turn around. This lane definitely feels like a convenient bypass route rather than a small suburban street.

Concur with petition to make Porters Lane one way and install speed humps. Traffic flow is heavy during peak hours. Cars are also travelling fast on the narrow lane. A visiting friend had a near miss as she attempted to cross the lane. Her view of oncoming car was blocked by parked cars.

Porters Lane is used as a drive through to avoid mona vale road a one way arrangement in the direction from rosedale road to lynbarra road will force drivers to use mona vale road like it should be. Also who at council put up a sign allowing parking at the entrance and exit to the car park at 3-7 Porters lane is beyond common logic and takes no account of the safe entrance and egress to the above mentioned car park. Yet the stupidity of putting a sign at the speed bump entering Lynbara from Stanley Street defies logic again I could literally legally park there and block traffic at the speed bump go figure. Imagine exiting the car park at 3-7 Porters Lane to be confronted by a parked car right opposite with traffice approaching from left and right as well as traffic trying to exit the council car park what a bloody nightmare. Wake up Kuring Gai Council remove the parking sign opposite our car park and make the street one way as suggested and also fix the stupid parking signage in Lynbarra at the speed bump.

Every time I drive down this street someone is racing up it from Lynbara, heedless of the narrow road and parked cars. I’ve had so many near misses, it is just a matter of time until we get hit.

B double and large trucks should not be using this road. There is absolutely no parking in the area during the day, forcing many courier drivers or tradesmen to park illegally on and dangerously on Stanley Street. Council have done nothing to stop the over-development of the area and it is time they did something to mitigate their lack of foresight. Council must take action before someone is killed or injured.

Totally agree.... the traffic flow around the loop Monavale road/Porters Lane/Stanley Street is a mess....
I wrote to the Council about making Stanley Lane one way and it was dismissed out of hand.
Maybe Stanley Road 2 way ...Stanley Lane one way from Stanley Road ... Porters one way towards Monavale Road.

As promised, this should be done as soon as possible. It is dangerous reversing out of our drive way. People are travelling far to fast in a narrow road.

One day when walking along Porters Lane a B-double truck came from Rosedale Rd end and took up the whole road with parked cars on one side. Traffic going from Lynbara Rd to Rosedale Rd had to back into driveways to let the b-double pass. There is a no truck sign at the Lynbara Rd end but it is needed at the Rosedale Rd end. B-double trucks should not be using residential side streets and lane ways for short cuts to where they want to go.
