Fishing or computer games What should our children do The pontoon at Simpson\'s Park was paid for by public funds, for public access. While fishing there for many years, parents have taught their children patience, appreciation of wildlife and environs and begun a lifelong interest in healthy outdoor recreation. Many boys and girls have shared quality bonding time, and taught their parents valuable lessons also. But fishing has been prohibited at this pontoon, at the junction of Oxley Creek and the Brisbane River. The pontoon is a great safe fishing spot, with easy access to deep water and within cycling distance for many children. Fish caught there include Catfish, Mullet, Bream, Flathead, Stingray, juvenile Bull Sharks, Salmon ....etc This variety, and the fact that fish CAN sometimes be caught there, makes the pontoon fun. The topography around the creek and of the river bed makes casting and fishing from other nearby locations difficult and disappointing. On behalf of ourselves and our children, we the undersigned respectfully request the Brisbane City Council to remove the "No Fishing" rule from this location.
