I bleed Blue and Gold and have the 2003 John Carroll Award to prove it.
JT3 has always been a weak Coach. His Father has intimidated the Administration for too long....he,more than anyone, knows his deficiencies .....time to end the Thompson family era.
Of course, I firmly believe the Board of Trustees knows the program is dreadful, but in light of the "slavery" issue (which was poorly handled by Jack) and the fact that the Thompson's are AA, presents PC issues. However, what harm has the University brought upon the Thompson family? I estimate they are worth in excess of 80M, what other coach or coaching family can equal that enormous financial windfall?
The fact is, JT3 is an incompetent coach....there isn't enough room here to outline his deficiencies. If the University allows him to continue. We will:
1. Never win The Big East
2. Never go to the NCAA's
3. Barely have winning seasons
4. Continue these embarrassing losses like Arkansas State.
A few years ago I met Jim Boeheim at The Olympic Club in SF. I told him I thought JT3 was inept and over his head in just about every game.....what did he think? He mused for quite awhile, then said, "he has made lots of young coaches rich"!1
I think that says it all.
If a change isn't made and soon, the program will finally become irrelevant.......the Students and Alumni deserve far better.
This guy should retire to his home in Martha's Vineyard...the poor guy!1

Time for a change. Terrible in game coach. He is paid way too much given the very mediocre results.

It's time for a coaching change. We haven't been to the sweet 16 for the past 9 years. That's the longest drought that I've seen since I became a Georgetown fan in the mid to late 1970's

Georgetown has too much national prominence to be playing this generic brand of basketball. Get a coach who can bring some energy to this program.

I used to have season tickets. I decided not to renew after they missed the tournament in 2014. The low standards of the athletic dept are unacceptable.

Great local talent is squandered year after year by JT3. Terrible national recruiter for such a great school. I was a varsity athlete at Gtown. It is time the Thompsons step aside and allow this university to recruit a nationally acclaimed coach.

JTIII returned the Gtown program back to prominence but it has plateau'd and even declined since 2007 with awful tournament losses and underperformance. This year was flat out embarrassing, as the team got worse throughout the year and consistently failed to make adjustments. JT III's boring Princeton offense, inability to mold athletic recruits into a cohesive unit, and ineffectiveness at firing up/motivating the players for big games are just some of the reasons why he needs to go.

How many players recruited by JT3 have been drafted in the first round? How many All Star Game appearances do JT3 recruits account for? How many McDonald's All Americans has he recruited? How many First Team All Big East Players have we produced? How many Hoyas currently start never mind play in the NBA?

Thanks to JTIII for being a great ambassador to the school -- classy, composed and honorable.
But by any objective metric it's time to hire a new basketball coach. The nepotism that is keeping him around is starting to outweigh any good that keeping him as the face of our program can bring.
I will be withholding my annual donation to the university until we have a new basketball coach.
