Finn Valley Wind Action

We are in the same position With Shehy Wind farm Turbines to be the largest and 600 meters from our home . . also Coillte property

Coillte are guardians of huge areas of Ireland's precious and beautiful landscape. Its time they started recognising the need to preserve and protect the landscape and the communities who live in it rather than allowing it to be desecrated for short term financial gain.

Coilllte please do not allow this to happen in our community areas of outstanding naturalness being desecrated forever and the future generations deserve what we have been so fortunate to have enjoyed.

Time to stand up and fight back as a united group.

Putting wind turbines close to where people live is totally unjust. The UK government have given local people a say in whether wind farms are constructed in their areas. Our government should copy.

I object to the construction of this wind farm. The residents have not been given due consideration in this proposal.

They must be stopped for the sake of our Wellbeing. The "wind farms" -building-rage is long over. There are already too many up and running in the country. Acording to EU, we reached our target. It is now only "for the boys". (Subvention Moneys!).

Wind power, driven more by subsidies than results, is failing on all of its promises. We don't need wind farms or their pylons.

Coillte must recognise that wind energy is an inefficient way to reduce CO2 emissions and that trees and the ground on which they stand are very efficient at storing carbon. Coillte must also recognise that under the Kyoto agreement we are obligated to plant more forestry. It is therefore both wrong and illogical and wrong for Coillte to follow pursue a policy of replacing forestry with industrial wind turbines. It is time for Coillte to return to being a forestry company. The best thing that Coillte can do to help reduce our carbon emissions is to pursue a policy of afforestation.

I object to the proposed Carrickaduff wind farm

Coillte have no right to sell Irish Land to British Hedge Funds who refuse to reveal their identity, have no insurance, and no secure bond, and will expose local land owners to full liability for accidents or deaths. Coillte should be planning trees not cutting 400,000 trees, this is a clear abuse of process and trust, these are our lands, our trees, and we must protect them.

Pylons are both ugly and unsafe.

I strongly endorse the comments of Jeff Agar, that Coillte should concentrate on its core business and cease windfarm speculative investment. The subsidies will be withdrawn over the next few years if the National Competitiveness Council's recommendations are followed by Government, and Coillte can begin real investment in longer term biomass production, restructuring conifer plantations with high calorific value native broadleaves. This, together with recreational development will put it on a more long-term pathway to sustainability.

Ireland is currently facing a large decline in native species caused largely by monocultural agricultural and land use practices and has one of the smallest percentage areas of native woodland in Europe.As the state forestry body Coillte should be concentrating its efforts on enriching the diversity of our forests and not on reaping in profits from subsidies from the PSO levy by cutting down trees for wind farms or from exports of renewable energy to Europe at the expense of our environment.Land use is the main cause of greenhouse emissions in Ireland not energy and land use is the business you are in on our behalf.

Coillte are not looking after the forests but instead concentrating on trying to gain financially by allowing wind turbines to be constructed. It is disgraceful. Those industrial monstrosities are being built too near people's houses and are a blight on our landscape. They are noisy, inefficient and dangerous.

Object to any more wind farms on the island of Ireland because of its inefficiency and inappropriate size to our landscape

Coillte have no write to hand over state land to these ruthless speculators

This will completely ruin the natural beauty of the Finn valley area. There are alternatives.

there is no logic, or care, other than a quick profit. wind farms are the biggest rip-off, the environmental impact is huge, the cost is huge , the result is destroying Ireland. If CO2 emissions are to be looked at seriously, and greenhouse gasses reduced,why are there SO many more cows being produced,and forests being clear-felled
