Petition for Financial Transparency in DARUSO MLIMANI
To: The Administration and Leadership of the University of Dar es Salaam ( Main Campus).
Subject: Demand for Transparency in the Collection and Utilization of DARUSO MLIMANI Contributions.
We, the undersigned students of the University of Dar es Salaam, hereby present this petition to express our concern regarding the lack of transparency in the financial management of the students' government, DARUSO MLIMANI.
Each academic year, students are required to contribute TZS 5,000 to support the activities and functions of DARUSO MLIMANI. While we acknowledge the importance of these contributions in ensuring the smooth operation of our students’ government, we are deeply concerned that there is no disclosure of the total amount collected or a clear report on how these funds are utilized.
We also recognize the existence of other sources of income such as cafes, salons, sponsors and the Shato tax. All in general, it is good that their financial reports are made public and audited as they are the parts government's income from students.
This lack of financial accountability has led to widespread dissatisfaction and the emergence of allegations regarding financial mismanagement. As stakeholders who fund DARUSO MLIMANI, we believe it is our fundamental right to be informed of how our contributions are managed and utilized. Transparency in financial reporting is crucial to build trust, prevent misuse of funds, and ensure accountability to the student body.
We therefore request the following:
1. Publication of Annual Financial Reports: A detailed financial report, including the total amount collected, expenditures, and any surplus, should be published and made accessible to all students.
2. Regular Audits: Annual audits of DARUSO MLIMANI finances should be conducted by an independent body and shared with the student body.
3. Open Forums for Accountability: Regular open meetings where DARUSO MLIMANI representatives can address students’ questions and concerns regarding financial matters.
We believe that implementing these measures will strengthen the relationship between DARUSO MLIMANI and the students, promote good governance, and foster an environment of accountability.
We kindly urge the university administration and DARUSO MLIMANI leadership to take immediate action to address these concerns. As contributors to this fund, we deserve clarity and assurance that our contributions are being managed responsibly and in the best interests of all students.

Haiwezekani kila mwaka tutoe Hela ambayo sijaona inatusaidia Kwa namna Gani Sisi wanafunzi ilhali kila mwaka Kuna baadhi ya wanafunzi wanashindwa kuendelea na masomo kutokana na changamoto mbalimbali za masomo

I quite agree that the student's government should ensure transparence on the matters concerning the collected finances,So as to consolidate public trust to their government.This will be of importance to both sides the people and the government. So i stand with the opinion that the Student's government that works in behalf of the people should take instant measures on making sure that they rebuild trust to their citizens by providing financial report to them Thank you.
