This decision is a disgrace. Stirling Council could have chosen the route favoured by both Glasgow & Edinburgh and kept this service in house. To claim that it had to go to tender is a lie. No wonder the Labour Party is in such a dire situation in Scotland; siding with the Tories to privatise local services. They can ever again be believed when they complain about privatisation. I use the Peak frequently, but if I am to be asked to contributes to private profit, I will stop using the facility and use Stirling University instead.

It's worrying to see a council that is run, at least in part, by the Scottish Labour Party advocating the privitisation of sports and leisure services. These services are key to the health and well-being of the people of Stirling and must remain in public hands so as to maintain accountability, value for money and high standards. I completely oppose the moves put forward by Stirling Council.

AS do a great job. My big fear is that a contractual relationship with the private sector will see the Council over a barrel in the future - either paying through the nose for "extras" that Active Stirling would provide through goodwill, or having to accept cuts in service. The contract is for 25 years, so there's no way back!

This move contradicts the many assertions that Stirling Council has made regarding stimulating trade and economy through local initiatives. There is no need to entrust vital local services to a private company. Please agree to Active Stirling continuing with their work.

I am appalled a 25 year contract is being awarded to an English company. 25 years? What are the get outs if the service/ customer satisfaction reduce, costs go up? What about consulting with the people of Stirling before awarding any huge contract which has such a major impact on them?

Active Stirling have been instrumental in giving our netball club the support and encouragement it needed. We went from around 6 players to now over 40 with 2 junior sections and to top it off we won out of 80 clubs Netball Scotlands Bounceback Club of the Year. We now have interschool competitions and a healthy growing sport. I don't believe we would have had as much success without Active Stirlings involvement.

The officer recommendation in the report to Council will be supported by the Tory/Labour administration, which is an outrage.
The privatisation of these services will result in job losses, increased charges for community groups and the withdrawal of services which are currently being delivered by Active Stirling.
It will also have a severe impact on small businesses who have invested heavily for many years.
This is privatisation of public services which is a public scandal.
