Fight Funding For Florida Students!
Florida is experiencing $600 million in education budget cuts. Students in Polk County, FL are fighting against the $90 million budget cuts that are threatening their county next year. We cannot allow legislators to eradicate electives, sports, and fine arts from our curriculum or campus! If these budget cuts are allowed to pass, our extra-curricular activites, such as Band, FFA, FBLA, Honors Society, chorus, and sports will be gone. Hundreds of students need these extra-curriculars in order to earn scholarships to offset the ever-rising cost of college tuition. In addition, we all know that students who are involved in school activities are more likely to graduate and stay out of trouble - cutting these programs will jeapordize learning and the very potential of our future generations! With this budget cut, teaching positions will be eliminated and these teachers will be laid off. Those who are allowed to keep their jobs will be forced to take another paycut - in addition to the paycuts already experienced this year. Our teachers are of paramount importance - they instill upon us the desire to learn and the ability to work in the industrialized world. We must support their contributions and work-ethic by joining this fight! Think VOTERS: Without the proper education, we will relapse into another Great Depression. Without proper education, students will not grow to their full potential. Without proper education, our society will never meet the requirement necessary to compete in the modern world. We need you to sign this petition; Floridians MUST stand together to demand a stable and perpetual source of funding for their public schools. Fight with us against these budget cuts - above all else, education must be funded. Education is the foundation for the future - our future. YOUR future. The future of our great nation.
