Younger club members are always askign if it is worth learning throws as they never see them being done in the Diamond League or other competitions on the telly

I totally agree, especially when the likes of Euro Sport can fit in PV, Hammer, LJ, etc while a 10k is in progress.

Field events are part of our sport and should be treated with the same respect as the track events. Whilst I understand that the BBC are trying to attract the 'none athletics' viewers they are alienating those in the sport.

I have to resort to looking through the European channels on satellite TV to see any throws....Secratary of the West London Hammer School.

I am a former coach of Nick Miller who has just broken the UK record for Hammer throw. As well as the Hammer event I coach other events, mostly field events. To get more Nick Millers it is obvious that the field events need more coverage on TV; youngsters (and their parents, etc) need to see the whole sport of Track and Field. Is that too simple!

The BBC now appear to have a few fewer pundits, but still insist on mixing "magazine" type commentary with live running, when it is clear that field events are taking place. What field events are then shown are spoiled by not including foot contact and / or use arty farty camera work. If the BBC continue to ignore the field and show just highlights then please cut the fancy camera work and include ground contact. And showing the winning throw in the women's hammer last week from "the top of a tower block half a mile away" was not showing anything at all.

It totally make sense. If we are going to encourage kids to join the sport it should be promoting ALL areas including Fields. It should NOT be about the "pundits" talking about their experiences (many years ago), but should be about the events taking place. Example: Rachel Wallader throwing longest shot put this decade since Judy Oakes (not a mention).

Absolutely essential if interest and greater participation in the field events is to be achieved. Ideally commentary by someone with knowledge of the event as well.

If future generations are to take part in field events they must be able to see them when they are young enough to be enthused by them. Without TV exposure they will not have that opportunity.

Athletics is track and FIELD. TV doesn't show half of other sports. I'm a sprints coach but love the field events

I throw discus and it would be great to be able to actually see how others throw and just to be able to watch the event all together :)

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, less chat more action. Why do we need to watch every step of a 10,000m or all the build up and false starts in a 100m when there is so much great action going on in the field. So disrespectful to 50% of the athletics world!
