Too right! The current situation is farcical. If you give the event no coverage whatsoever (only really covered in the heptathlon at the moment, and then only a couple of throws by the British girls!!!), fewer people will want to do it, and we'll never have another Backley! Get on with it, and get it on the TV!

Couldn't agree more, the BBC has turned me away from watching their coverage! I am forever tweeting to try and see something other than people talking or every lap of a 10k. Cut away once it a while, it won't hurt!

watched the British hammer record broken on SVT Swedish tv watching lots of field a track events with commentaries in the back ground. we need to see the events not pointless comments from pundits

The more sports we show on TV of all varieties can only help inspire young people to find something they enjoy. At the moment it's pretty much football or Formula 1.

BBC coverage of field events is terrible. Less talking from pundits and more action required. Eurosport is much better for field events. Having just been to Euro Juniors in Sweden, the crowd loved the field events and were much more involved in some of them than the track

As a jumps coach for a group of young athletes, I want them to be inspired and aspiring! I also want them to see how a high or long jump looks when it is performed at the highest standard.

I have been throwing since I was 11 and have competed at multiple major championships. the coverage of throws has always been shocking on TV and am really happy to see that people are finally standing together to do something about it!

I'm fed up with commentators blathering on whilst showing endless replays of the running events, especially whilst I know there is something going on in the field.

As a previous multi medal winner in international competitions and major championships I think the coverage in the field events are deplorable and not consistent with other countries coverage of field events at major championships. Although I have respect for the new wave of current commentators as previous champions but we have too much chit chat of how good they were in there day and garbage fill in gossip waiting for the 5000 or other running round in circle events other than watching many of the more technical events that many are interested in I am afraid I have to agree with many of my coach colleagues that it is time to encourage field events in the UK we may not have too many that can challenge the very best in the world but without television coverage and encouragement from the nouveau commentators I was privalaged to know David Coleman Ron Pickering and my own coach Stuart Storey who were steeped in knowledge and knew all the throwers by name I doubt if the current crop do !! Less talk at event More coverage for the throwers !! Regards Geoff Capes

I totally agree.my daughter is a field eventer and as great as the track events are ,lets see some more of the jumps and throws!

I am of the same opinion as the rest of you. I look forward to watching the athletics, only to sit there and listen to the pundits going on and on about a race. Then to add insult to injury they then proceed to show the race a further half a dozen times. That time could be better spent seeing the top throwers doing their thing. If you have recorded the program and watch the play back, the actual time you see anything anyway is minuscule, so the only time they have left is to show one throw and the results. Very poor show altogether.

When Ch 4 had athletics we did see field events in full, ,any people enjoyed and could follow it instead of just getting the one best throw/jump. At world Youths we only saw winning DT, yet Scotland's George Evans had bronze, Fed up with getting every lap of 5000 or 10,000m race when you can hear clapping and enthusiasm from field but see nothing. Katherine Merry was v fed up when meet from Eugene showed is a good amount of hammer. Shows bias of presenters. gabby Logan is only one who tries to change things or ask sensible questions. Need a thorough clearout

TV presentations seem to focus on the events that are simple to follow, eg 100m where it is easy to see who wins. Field events require concentration which seems to be a challenge for some viewers. It would be easy to show the score card along with the event so that the public could follow a whole competition. Come on TV programmers - lets get full coverage of our sport.
