For many years now I've watched & enjoyed the track & a small proportion of field events & that's just it...whilst the so called blue ribboned events are getting unprecedented viewing...the field events are getting left behind. There are some fantastic performances happening in around the field events & whilst this is happening, the focus appears to be engaging on visual commentary. We do need to see more equality & visual participation in field events.

I too would like to see far more of the field events on the TV and less time wasted whilst we watch the sprinters and others stripping down in preparation for their spring events, Also do we really heed to watch every lap in the 10000m.

As an athletics coach & Mum to a Hammer Thrower, I think this recognition is vital. These athletes work just as hard as the runners and jumpers, and put themselves through gruelling physical and mental training to get their successes. Track should NOT take precedence over field, or vice versa. Equality and recognition to ALL athletes is an absolute must!!!

Throws should be shown more on the BBC, especially when there's a British interest In the event. This would camps the BBC showed a full marathon when no Brit was competiting but only highlights of the men's hammer, which had a British athlete in.

As an ex thrower I have always noticed the lack of field events on TV and how exciting it can be for people to watch

I agree. Way too much talking, when they could be showing a greater variety of events.
On the plus side, I think that Steve Backley has done a good job as field commentator.

Year after year we witness the BBC further plunging our sport into disrepute by wishing to focus on how, almost always foreign athletes, use doping to cheat. Whilst live athletics action is happening behind the talking heads, we are treated to clips of a Steve Cram with his perm winning in the 80s - great, but what about today's athletes. What other sport has people talking whilst the action is on. My other half is not an athletics fan because she associates BBC athletics with just running. When the BBC choses pundits they are almost always runners and not exactly charismatic ! It's not exactly a secret that throwers are the more exuberant participants in the sport! Let's get them and their great skills on the TV - if it doesn't work and ratings do not improve then go back to laps and laps of athletes running. But at least give it a try

The field events are by far more technical than 99% of the track events and require more skill than just talent. So why not give these people what they deserve and let them show what they can do after all the hard work they put it. People need to learn that both track and field are part of athletics so let's act like both exist.
