The government is proposing to reduce rape sentences by a half in return for a guilty plea in England and Wales. Presently it is cut by a third. This could potentially mean that some convicted rapists only spend 15 months in jail. This is a disgrace when they have probably ruined someones life.
I am unable to obtain information regarding rape convictions/guilty pleas in Scotland. I'm investigating this and will have a seperate petition for this.
Rape is rape and everyones experience is unique and painful to them.

THIS IS ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING. How can they even think about doing this???
Keep rapists in prison for the full time. Ridiculous proposal.
The justice system is already failing victims enough as it is. Reducing time for a guilty plea is pathetic.
15 months is absolutely nothing for such a violent crime. This is a slap in the face to every victim. Keep the sentences long.
