Faster Broadband and Total Mobile Phone coverage in Mid Devon

Let Devin County Council be the leaders in the fibre revolution, and insist on FTTH for everyone in the county. It CAN BE DONE and should be! There are no prizes for using a Victorian phone system as your infrastructure. Let Devon be the example to the nation!

Mid Devon should not be disadvantaged due slow broadband an poor mobile coverage!

Nationwide broadband is not essential, unless Great Britain wishes to remain a leading nation.

Two comments. It is shocking that the UK is so far behind. This is what one expects in a third world country not in one that claims to be in the top ten. Second while we wait for proper broadband we should only be paying pro rata for the service we get. If the country's average speed is 22 Mb/sec and we get only 0.5 then we should only pay 2.5% of the normal tariff

Us ' Country Bumpkins' pay the same rate of tax as city dwellers, but the popular myth of our 'slower' way of life doesn't mean that we should be fobbed off with snail-like broadband!

It is unacceptable that I have to go to my daughter in Tedburn St Mary to download or upload files to run my copy-editing business.

Today I have received a letter from Talk Talk that their rural accounts are being transferred to Fleur Telecom. This shows that the big providers are not interested in the rural areas where there is no fast broadband.

Grossly overdue. We pay the same council rates, taxes and Internet service charges as everyone else so should have similar service. The alternative is for MDDC to cut our rates by £35 pm and accept that we will have a conservation area littered with unsightly satellite dishes.....

We have resorted to satellite broadband as the telephone broadband is of an unacceptable speed. This is hugely costly, and not always reliable, so a faster broadband via conventional methods would be far better and more cost-effective.

Desperately slow broadband and no prospect of improvement in our hamlet of NEOPARDY. No mobile signal at our house

As more people enjoy faster broadband so internet service designers assume such speeds. So important websites and their services will increasingly be denied to rural users without fast broadband. This is already affecting mid-Devon domestic users let alone businesses.

It is hard to do business when 0.3mb is our fastest broadband speed.

Thank you. Latest news is that I will pass on all comments to Neil Parrish at a Mid Devon Scrutiny meeting later in August. There will be a Parish meeting at Kennerleigh on 6 October with Iwan Best the operational manager for broadband at Devon County attending. I will be knocking on doors to reach more petitioners and then I hope to get up a media campaign to draw wider attention to the issue and put pressure on BT et al.

We need a fast and efficient broadband service and good coverage of mobile phone signal
