It is totally unacceptable that rural areas should be excluded from broadband access, on which both business and personal communication are depending now and will be increasingly in the future. There will be no solid economic development in this part of the country if residents are unable to connect effectively to the Internet through a reliable and fast signal. Fibre broadband was never going to be the solution in rural areas and alternatives need to be found - and quickly.

We live at Parkhill, Crediton (right on the A3072). We are connected to BT Cabinet 10 (Entrance of Lords Meadow Ind Est). We have been told we are outside the maximum 1.6 kilometer distance to recieve Fibre although our active cabinet is fibre enabled. All the new fibre cables that run into and supplies Shobrook village with fibre broadband runs right past our property our next door neighbour (a relative) and their commercial property including Parkhill Garage and Caravan site. We are within the max distance to the Cabinet serving Shobrook village. I would like to know why we have been completly bypassed in the roll out. I would also like to know if there are any plans to connect us and a rough timescale. Cannot get an answer from BT or BT OpenReach. They also make it extremley difficult to communicate with.

It is inequitable that we pay full rate for broadband and mobile facilities, yet receive a very poor service

Living in the best part of the country should not be at the expense of poor/intermittent mobile phone coverage

I fully support this campaign. Digital technology should be the great equaliser, not something that excludes great swathes of the population.

The lack of proper broadband coverage hampers both business and the community on a daily basis making it hard to communicate.

My photographic business cannot function properly on 0.5mb broadband speed.
Fast internet speed should be an essential service along with water, gas, etc. The local economy cannot survive without it.

I fully support this petition for faster broad band services to rural areas in mid Devon. In particular black dog, crediton. Also better mobile phone coverage. This is a lifeline for local residents young and old.

We whizz along at a maximum of 0.7mbps.. The upgrade will still only take us to a maximum of 2mbps.. It should be a priority to bring us in line before others are upgraded from an already super fast service..

Both my partner and I run our businesses from home. I am an editor and download and upload my work, which can be very slow - the lack of speed is a source of frustration to me and some of my clients. Our three children increasingly need a faster broadband speed to download and upload homework. This is not to mention tax returns, streaming films, ordering shopping online etc. We need faster broadband!

We are increasingly encouraged to make payments and purchases online also our tax forms need to be filled in online. it is really difficult and frustrating trying to do this with the sluggish service we now get.

I am developing state-of-the-art web applications in Mid Devon for big business world-wide . My 0.37 Mbps upload speed is making this increasingly hard. We need superfast NOW!

If Mid Devon were in Africa we would be getting a slice of the overseas aid budget from the UK government to improve our communications

Question. Where has all the BDUK money gone?
Answer. Towards BT's business strategy rather than the UK's need for broadband to support rural businesses, for what the money was intended.
Why? Because BT have led Government and Local Authorities by the nose. Its time to take control and ensure that this does not continue.
