56% of Canadians enjoy a provincial holiday in February

This holiday occurs on the 3rd Monday in February and is often called Family Day. The day is meant to be spent with family and friends.

Nova Scotia is one of the few provinces without a holiday in February. In 2010, there were 110 days between New Year's Day and Good Friday (January 1st and April 22nd, respectively). This is way too long to go without a holiday during the coldest, darkest time of the year. Do not let this happen again!

Follow the example set by the other provinces and help create a holiday we all need and deserve.

Alberta celebrated Family Day first in 1990, then Saskatchewan in 2007. Manitoba followed in 2008 with Louis Riel Day. Then Ontario began celebrating Family Day in 2008. In PEI, Islander Day is celebrated.

Alberta has had this holiday for over 20 years. In Nova Scotia we pride ourselves on being a family friendly province. It only makes sense to have one day a year to celebrate family values.

Help make this a reality by signing this petition.
