The Bureau finally confirmed that remote IFSP meetings will remain a permanent option for all families. My nerves are completely frayed from this fight but the outcome makes it worthwhile. I will be watching the formal implementation closely to ensure they hold their word.

To the Bureau of Early Intervention:
We, the parents/families, participating in the of New York Early Intervention, petition the cancellation of the reinstatement of IFSP meetings to be held in person that are expected to go into effect on August 15, 2022.
Attending IFSP meetings in person will cause conflict in other obligations that we as parents are expected to abide by. Traveling to an Early Intervention office to discuss our children's development is unnecessarily time consuming, costly, and causes potential risk to the health and safety of our well being and the health of our children and families. We urge you to strongly consider keeping the IFSP meetings the way that they are (via phone conference), as it is preferred by families participating in EIP

The exhaustion is setting in but I refuse to let this effort fade away before we hit our next goal. Please send this link out to anyone who understands why keeping these meetings remote is a necessity for our families.

We need this, our daughter is 9 months old and at high risk for covid and other virus exposure which would derail her recovery from brain surgery
Having in person meetings is very unnecessary and imposes a hardship when people have more than one child at home. A phone conversation does the same thing as an in person meeting and if one really wants an in person meeting then that option can be available.
Makes a world of a difference for us parents not to have to go in person when it can be over the phone and just as effective. Finding childcare can be really difficult , especially for those with multiples .
Phone conferences are extremely helpful for parents such as myself who have unpredictable schedules. It is often very hard to schedule a time to physically meet. If it weren’t for phone conferences I do not think I would have been able to get my sons their services.
I'm a mother with 2 special needs kids I don't drive. I remember taking my daughter somewhere in Brooklyn to get an evaluation back in the early 2000 it was horrible she would flip out with the people the noise it was overwhelming and exhausting for both the parents and child I rather the phone it's easier to see the child in there true environment
There is no reason why these meetings can't be held virtually.

Maintaining meetings remotely allows for families with immunocompromised family members and children to not put themselves or families at risk. Also, for low-income families to save money on travel and for the loss of services that a child may have due to travel.
