I have been reading through all your comments and honestly it just makes me realize how much this matters because so many of you have family members who are waiting to celebrate this milestone. I am still trying to get a straight answer from the administration office but for now it is just total silence on their end which is honestly more frustrating than a rejection.

I really thought this might just float into the void unnoticed but suddenly my phone is vibrating non stop and it feels like people are actually paying attention now. It is wild to think that so many of us are sitting here wanting the same thing even if the administration keeps acting like we are invisible.

Since the UAE started relaxing the restructuring and Dubai returned to host events at full capacity, I believe that our parents do really deserve being there with us during our graduation.
Students should be able to celebrate this occasion with their loved ones. If schools, work, public transport, and the expo can operate functionally, then this can be done in a safe way as well
Seeing that all other projects are back on campus fully, it pains me to know that a simple yet momentous presence of my parents seeing their only child graduate on a stage was taken away. It makes all the sense that all people come in with pcrs, thats how we progress past this pandemic that took half of my university experience away.
The way I see it, this ceremony means more to our parents and beloved ones than it does to us. My dad has been waiting for the moment he sees me on the stage wearing my cap and gown ever since I joined the university. This ceremony is meant to celebrate an achievement with our families, so preventing families from attending really defies the purpose. I hope they reconsider.
I do not think the university’s decision is right at all. I understand they care about the health and safety of others. However, covid cases decreased and there are a lot of other requirements they could ask for such vaccine, PCR etc. They can also ask for a 24 hour PCR if they are that afraid. This is an event us students want to share with our families. It is also an important day to our parents. AUS should reconsider.
I want my parents and husband to attend !

All the covid restrictions in the UAE are being decreased currently, having only our parents as guests with taking the precautions such as negative PCR tests, distancing, and masks won’t cause any dangers to anyone. I hope AUS reconsiders their decision.
