Cactus have some of the most beautiful flowers you will ever see. Various companies seem to have found success in selling cactus with fake straw flowers (and now, plastic ones!) glued to the tip. Some even spray paint succulents!

I believe the success is from ignorance on the customer's part: surely if they knew these flowers were fake, and that hot-gluing them right on to the point of growth is unhealthy, they would not buy them. I have even seen some fake flowers glued directly on actively growing flower buds.

It is an unnecessary addition, and truly it UNDERSELLS the plant if you've ever seen a real cactus flower.

It is my hope to bring awareness to the public of this harmful practice. It would overall benefit both the nurseries who do this (less labor) and the customers who wish to buy cactus and succulents (healthier plant).

I will share this petition with all the stores that buy these altered plants for resell, in hopes they will pressure their sources to be more conscious of what they're doing and what their customers want.

I am gathering a list of wholesale suppliers to contact regarding their glue practices. Please text the link to three friends who buy houseplants so they know how to spot this damage. Post a photo of a glued cactus on your social media feed and tag your local nursery to ask them to stop stocking these items.

The momentum behind this is undeniable and it proves that people want healthy plants without the plastic glue. Post this petition on your Facebook timeline right now to keep the pressure on these nurseries. Text three friends who keep houseplants and tell them why this practice needs to end.

i 100% agree. people can see the buds, and read the pot of it saying, “cactus flower.” it’s unnecessary and damages the plant.

I HATE that they do this! Especially folks that grow succulents and Cacti... It's sometimes very hard to remove the glue without harming the plant. It doesn't sell them any faster. And most who love and cherish these plants walk thru the store removing them. Stop this nonsense!!!!!

Anyone who knows better ends up having to remove the flowers anyways which is sometimes quite the process. I persinally wont buy anything eith a flower glued on it. Some of these sellers have an awesome selection of cacti as it is! Maybe make tags with photos of actual flowers instead!! The cacti are beautiful just the way they are...in their natural state!! :)

Please ban the sale of succulents with glued on flowers. This practice is so unnecessary.
