Protect OUR Voice! Stop the Fairness Doctrine!
Distinguished Ladies and Gentlemen of the United States House of Representatives and Senate. Over the course of our nations history, men and women have sweat, bled and died for the freedom to speak our minds. There are those within our government that want to subvert that right by dictating who will get the opportunity to speak their minds and who won't. We speak of the revival of the Fairness Doctrine or Equal Time. The claim is the fairness doctrine would open up opportunities to balance the airwaves with differing opinions. What a regulation like this would really do is strip every day people of the right to decide who gets to be on the air and who doesn't. We urge the our fellow Representatives and Senators to maintain fairness in broadcasting by allowing ratings, the everyday person's voice to determine what we can listen to, to be the determining factor in what shows we can and cannot listen to, not in the hands of a few bureaucrats. Thank you for your time and we urge you to protect the voices that people for centuries have sacrificed greatly to protect. Sincerely, Stephen A. Timmer
