Having been part of this amazing preschool as both a parent and staff member at the time when Fiona became director, it is disappointing that the board have done this. Fiona took on the role of director at a very difficult time in the industry at large and brought it back to be the great success it is today. EWP’s excellent reputation is only due to the director and her abilities to lead her team, creating a welcoming and nuturing environment for all children and their families. Fiona has succeeded in doing this and letting her go in this manner shows her no respect.

I would like to thank Fiona and the staff of EWP for providing such a beautiful and caring space. The warmth of this preschool I think would be apparent to anyone that attends or visits. The way in which Fiona and in turn the broader EWP community that supports is unacceptable. I am deeply saddened by this and hope that this is recognised and addressed by the board.

I have been advised by friends and colleagues of EWP that Fiona Ozona has been retrenched from her position as Director. I also understand that the process in doing this has offended and even outraged many people associated with EWP. To explain my own credentials I am an experienced early childhood educator, a career Director and a former staff member at EWP and well informed on the proper process in dealing with staffing issues at schools and preschools. I understand the process in this instance has been obscure and broad consultation was avoided. I’ve kept in contact with EWP over the years since I worked there and have great admiration and affection for staff and community. If I can be of assistance in facilitating discussions and negotiations to bring all parties together and achieve a consensual outcome for the problems that have arisen I would be happy to do so. It is clear that the boards process and decision-making is out of step with community values and was heavy-handed and provided no integrity or dignity to the value of the people involved. The very fact that a petition has been circulated indicates divisions and acrimony amongst the stakeholders within the school. This must be resolved.

Fiona is the voice and the energy of the kindy and she can never be replaced.
She is the reason why the school is so vibrant, energetic and happy. The kindy without Fiona, is a kindy that has been stripped of its emotion.

Fiona has always put her staff & EWP at the top of her list. EWP is what it is today because of her outstanding dedication. She deserves respect and appreciation, not to be treated as appallingly as she has been.

Having worked under Fiona for the last 7 years and along side her years before that, I can confidently say she is an amazing, hard working, knowledgeable, empathetic and strong woman, she has my full support 100% and so do all the wonderful parents that have risen up to let their voices be heard against the injustice that is trying to be brought not only on Fiona but the whole EWP community!

Fiona has my unreserved support. She is an outstanding educator and directress. She advocates for the children and staff in her care and always acts with loyalty, creativity, insight, passion, integrity and love. She is irreplaceable.
