We are deeply saddened and angered by the Board’s decision to make Fiona’s role “redundant” and replace her with another Director.
Fiona is an indispensable member of the EWP family. She has played a crucial role in developing and nurturing of our children. She is supported by her staff. She is the heart of EWP. Over Fiona’s tenure, EWP has become an admired institution in the broader community. She has overseen a period of unprecedented financial growth, and her performance as a Director has been excellent.
We do not agree with the Board’s decision.
In addition, the manner in which the Board’s decision was made and communicated to Fiona, other staff members, and the parents of EWP students, calls into question more broader issues than the decision itself (with which we strongly disagree).
Transparency and openness is required to ensure that decisions of the Board have been made fairly, reasonably, and in a way that reflects the values of the EWP community.
The EWP community (parents, teachers, prospective parents, and interested family members) demand that the Board urgently schedule a special meeting at which these matters can be aired by those who wish to raise them.
It is too late, and not enough, for the Board to suggest that they will field phone calls from concerned parents. Particularly where the manner in which this decision was made suggests those views may not be a priority, or even a concern, of the Board. It is not good enough.

The Board continues to hide behind closed doors while refusing to address the absolute mess they created. We are currently scouting for legal representation to force them into a public meeting because their cowardly silence is an insult to every family here.

The Board tried to bury this decision in the dark, but the overwhelming surge of support shows they cannot ignore us anymore. This momentum proves that the community is finished with their silence and demands the immediate accountability they have been dodging.

We would like to understand the rationale for this decision. We have greatly appreciated Fionas passion and care for the kindy and would appreciate greater insight into the decision. Thanks, Sharon
I’ve always valued Fiona’s input and guidance. I’ve worked at the preschool for a number of years and have found that Fiona has created a happy and positive place for staff and children.
This is very sad to hear given she’s devoted herself to supporting children’s learning needs and is loved by all. I pray that businesses who make decisions based on personal views and not the contributions of long standing employees, consider the consequences of major change in Children and families lives.
I am not a parent at the preschool, however, I have many friends and community members who light up everytime they speak of the preschool and the staff. This is something unique and I know is due to the leadership, love and hard work by Fiona.
Fiona need justice and an apology! An outstanding leader of our community who has always shown clear directorship with great insight and passion . All The children , parents and teachers admire her For her creative and fun loving ways . Her work is her life . I am completely appalled by the boards actions
She is an excellent educator
Having been part of this amazing preschool as both a parent and staff member at the time when Fiona became director, it is disappointing that the board have done this. Fiona took on the role of director at a very difficult time in the industry at large and brought it back to be the great success it is today. EWP’s excellent reputation is only due to the director and her abilities to lead her team, creating a welcoming and nuturing environment for all children and their families. Fiona has succeeded in doing this and letting her go in this manner shows her no respect.

Not having Fiona as director of EWP would be a truly devastating loss. She has shaped the school to be as wonderful and as special as it is now. The very soul of EWP will cease to exist without her presence. As a parent of a current student at the school, it is sincerely in your best interest to reconsider this awful decision.
