Mr. Jorge Saa

President of Board of Directors

International School of Panama

We are writing to you out of deep concern for the future of ISP and of our children´s education. This week, we learned that the Board of Directors has decided not to renew Mrs. Stiebert’s contract with the school.

During the selection process, parents, teachers and principals were involved and as a result, Mrs. Stiebert was chosen as the best candidate for the job. Many times, we have had a chance to learn about Mrs. Stiebert’s education vision for ISP and we feel confident that under her guidance this school will continue to be the right place for our kids.

This radical decision of the Board of Directors, without the support of other school directors and principals, forces us to demand an explanation on why the Board of Directors decided not to renew her contract. As parents committed with the long-term success of the school, we are perplexed with the lack of transparency and process with which the Board is handling crucial high impact matters such as this one.

We would like to let you know that we fundamentally disagree with this decision and we want to ask you to revisit and revert it as we are certain that Mrs. Stiebert is the right leader to execute the plans that she is advancing.

Lastly, if Mrs. Stiebert’s contract is not renewed in due course, we are ready to call a General Assembly immediately to contend and revert such an irresponsible and destructive decision from this Board of Directors

All the principals should have been consulted before making this decision. We need ISP to raise the academic standards, for that purpise we need the board to support Ms Stiebert to continue the work she started to achieve this goal. The way the decision was made was irresponsible, without enough research and teachers’ feedback

As a father of three children at ISP I am deeply concerned by this decision which: 1) Has not been justified or explained to the parents 2) Is apparently being opposed by most directors and teachers at the school. We expect an urgent communication from the Board of Directors. Thank you.

As a parent, Viki's presence is visible on campus and radiates caring. As a teacher, we have as a whole staff worked tirelessly on strategic plan initiatives. Please provide a transparent and open system of communication.

No estoy de acuerdo que saquen a una persona del colegio cuando no fue consultado con los directivos que son los que trabajan ella y pueden evaluar si su trabajo es bueno o no. Ellos no fueron llamados a esta decisión y es por eso que no es justo el despido

I am shocked by the this abrupt decision made by the board. From my perspective, Viki has only shown clairvoyance, competence, and compassion during her first year as director of ISP. Especially during our tragic loss at ISP, she demonstrated a stellar example of what it means to lead an educational institution forward. I strongly hope that the board of directors reconsiders their decision.

This course of action by the Board is baffling: if Ms Stiebert isn’t performing satisfactorily (and as a parent I see no evidence of such) then why did they appoint her and keep her for another year? If she is performing as all the heads are suggesting she is, why aren’t they seeking to keep her? Why are we finding out in this manner? Either way, the decision needs to be re-assessed!

I have a child at ISP and agree that the path that our director, Ms. Siebert, is taking is the right one for our school. The board has been dysfunctional for at least a couple of years, thanks to certain individuals who are unstable and manipulative. It’s time to shut down the board.
