An approach has been made by Cllr Joe Armstrong to the police regarding reducing the speed limit on the B6301 approach to Esh Winning, passing the Hamsteels Estate.

The initial response of the Police Traffic Management Officer is that she does not support this proposal. However, this is just an initial response and it is still possible to get the speed limit reduced.

The argument against reducing this road to 30mph has always been that the road is only residential on one side and that Willow Road on the Hamsteels Estate is set back from the main road.

However, the development at the former Duffy's Farm means that it is no longer residential on only one side. Therefore the argument no longer holds true and with your involvement we can hopefully lower the speed limit.

Please sign this online petition to show your support to this campaign. This online petition has been created by Pat Glass MP in response to representations made by residents following her recent coffee morning in Hamsteels Community Centre.

lived here 10 years and its always been dangerous. with all the new houses at the farm it makes no sense to keep it at 40.

About time. That road is a death trap with people flying past the houses at 40mph. Needs dropping to 30 before someone gets killed.
