E-cigarettes and Heated Tobacco Products (HTP) are becoming more popular in Hong Kong and affecting the general public, especially the younger population, such as secondary school students. The harmful effects of E-cigarettes include E-cigarette or Vaping Associated Lung Injury (EVALI), which is the name for extensive damage to lung functions, and not to mention its long term detrimental effects. However, in reality, due to the gateway effect, even if the government implements a total ban on E-cigarettes, the original smokers will switch to traditional cigarettes, as well as the more popular HTPs. As a result, the number of people affected by the harm of tobacco will not be decreased. According to a study by HKU, Hong Kong people have a good life expectancy partly due to the decreasing smoking rate. Therefore, in order to promote the health of our citizens, we petition to enforce a TOTAL BAN on E-CIGARETTES AND HTP in Hong Kong.

Cigarettes and e Cigarettes can.pose substantial harm to the human body and thus should be banned. Not only does it affect the smoker it also affects the people around them so smoking in general should be forbidden
