East Rock Road crosses the Mill River into East Rock Park over a quaint bridge, which was already widened and lost a bit of its original character in a renovation c. 1985. At present, another rebuild is necessary and the State of Connecticut wishes to 'upgrade' to wider lanes, 12' instead of the present 10'. This will encourage drivers to approach and cross the bridge with even greater speed than the present. Given the number of walkers, joggers, bikers and others trying to enjoy the park and the peace of mind that neighbors seek from speeding cars at night, its the worst possible proposal. We, the undersigned, oppose any renovation that widens the lanes, and to the contrary, wish to see traffic reduced both in volume and in speed.

LEAVE IT ALONE. widening the bridge ruins the whole vibe of the park. we need to slow traffic down not invite more of it.

people already treat that bridge like a highway. widening the lanes will just make them drive even faster which is terrifying for everyone walking their dogs.
