The notice of the Public Participation process, inviting comment from the people of Mossel Bay, on the application for the erection of a Ferris Wheel in the Point, has now been published. See: www.mosselbay.gov.za.
Members of the public are invited to submit any comments or objections thereto, or submit any similar or alternate proposals for the use or improvement of the site, are to be submitted to the Acting Municipal Manager by 25 October 2021.

Heritage Mossel Bay is totally against the erection of a Ferris Wheel in the Point..
The proposed site for the placement of the Ferris Wheel is at a vulnerable area of The Point and raises concerns aesthetically and the impact it will have on the urban framework, and will negatively affect a key Heritage precinct. The further commercialisation of the area is of grave concern.
The application states, that it is accepted that there is adequate parking space in the Point. To our opinion that is not so. The existing parking areas are, especially over weekends and holidays, fully occupied.
A Ferris Wheel as a tourist attraction is not denied. However the erection thereof should be on a more appropriate site with adequate circulation space, facilities for parking, and where it will not impact so drastically on the urban landscape as it will at The Point.
You are earnestly encouraged to make your opinion known and submit your comment to the Acting Municipal Manager

The Point is magical due to the calm and natural beauty of the area. It is not a theme park and it is not a city similar to where similar wheels have been erected. The cultural and scenic degradation will FAR outweigh the economic benefit!All for progress but this is NOT it.
Will not comply to Art 7 of Act 104 of 1977 of the NBR. Will be objectionable and defigure the area with a negative influance. The point is also n Heritage area therefor not complying to the processes of the Heritage Act
I am against the erection of a feris wheel at the Point. The focus of this area should be heritage. A better site for this type of attraction would be closer to Dias beach. Parking is already a problem at the Point, and will be exasperated by this
Dit sal 'n abolute seer oog wees. Dit is gevaarlik om so iets daar op te rig met ons wind toestande wat al erger raak met aard vewarming. Wie gaan pa staan as die kontrepsie in Desember op die karavaanpark neerstort, die stadsraad?
The camping terrain is a traditional holiday destination of generations. A ferris wheel will reduce camping space and mess up the solitude of the site. Appropriate place for this is next to Hartenbos river where Salt&Copper restaurant is.
Infrastruktuur op punt laat nie toe vir so n gedoente nie.

Definite no...with all due respect. Find a different location - there are many! A ferris wheel is a good idea, but if you look at what Mossel Bay point has to offer already, such addition will only congest what is already a high-traffic and cluttered area (in-season).
