The management finally admitted the footfall data was totally skewed and they are actually changing how they track visitors now. I am honestly in shock that we forced them to be honest about the empty halls after all this time. Keep an eye on those doors next time you walk …

Started by Ex Enterprise Business Owner 10 years, 10 months ago

This petition was set up for ex traders and customers to express their views on how the centre is being managed. All comments are welcomed.

The Enterprise Shopping Centre is located next to the Train Station in Eastbourne. The customer footfall figures are conducted by a counter which is located in the lobby doors next to the car park ticket machine. The counter is actually counting the footfall of those using the car park, and not of those entering the centre to shop or browse. I have created this petition to help prove that there is no or little footfall in the centre, and the figures which are stated are falsely presented.

The Enterprise Shopping Centre previously stated on their website that 50,000 customers a month, "2083 customers a day" enter their shopping centre.

"I can confirm that in my opinion that there was no or little footfall in the Enterprise Shopping Centre, Eastbourne whilst shopping or browsing." By signing this petition you agree that this statement to be true.

Please fill in the comment section with your experiences of shopping or trading as a business owner in the centre, and provide a date if possible.

Thank you for your support!

I really thought this might just fizzle out but the steady stream of people confirming what we all already knew about those fake footfall numbers is honestly surreal. Seeing all these stories coming in about the parking meters counting as shoppers proves that management has been playing games with the truth for way too long now.

As a previous shop owner in the Enterprise Centre for 2 years I can confirm that there is not 50,000 customers a month as stated on their website! This is just a method used to lure in new business owners onto the sinking ship.

Since the car park fees have changed, I know that I don't pop in there as often. Also with the new layout and building works it puts me off unless I am going In for a reason. I would think this would be the reason for many and it is a shame

it is no wonder businesses are coming and going in this place when they are under the false impression that 50000 customers a month visit here! try 50 a week if you are lucky. i am surprised this place is still open with the bad reputation it upholds.

My dad used to have a shop here. It closed down due to no customers, and being lied to about the footfall! He used to see about 2 or 3 people a day if he was lucky. I don't know how this place gets away with there murderous way of operating.

Wow, I NEARLY took a shop here a month or two ago for my online business to diversify to a physical shop. After reading this, I'm so glad I didn't and chose another location in Eastbourne instead. I find the enterprise centre to be pretty depressing, if I'm honest.

We opened a shop here and were told about the 50.000 footfall. I can tell you this is a load of rubbish. Because of the lies and deceit, we are now bankrupt. I would advise anyone thinking of opening a shop here, to think again!!

I visited the centre today, and disheartened to see fewer and fewer shops within there! Where have they all gone? It is the summer time and empty? It is such a shame, and I feel really sorry for the shop owners.

I had refrained from commenting on this but now feel it's time. I am furious with the management company. I am an ex-trader trying to re-build my life after they ripped me off, consistently lied to me, seriously affected my health by causing untold amounts of stress, and crushed my dreams of having a shop and watched me get into thousands of pounds of debt. They are still letting people move in here on false promises, that they know won't be able to run a profitable business and will end up in the same scenario. Now I have a business that is beneficial to some of the others in here the management team have the cheek to frown upon me working with their tenants and are threatening to make me bankrupt over £1000 that's left to pay back. This is crazy, I'm trying to earn a living to pay them back and they have to make me feel awkward about even going into the centre. How are these people allowed to still trade in the town. They should be banned from Eastbourne they do nothing to help anyone but themselves and don't care about the local economy.
