Employer has a way of rebuffing our issues with their unorganized, non-caring attitude towards their workers.
It is not only their PSW's, It isalso the way they pile work on their schedulers and Supervisors. I am told by in office staff, they too are
threatened to "do as your told" or
your job maybe in jeopardy.
Hmmmm!
Bullying and intimidation cannot and will not be tolerated.

Being a union steward, I hear a lot of complaints from CP PSW's ...being sent to retirement homes for 15 min. visits, when it can take 15 min. just to find your pt. When you do they want you to help them with a shower, dressing , making their bed, disposing of their garbage, just to name a few of their requests. Then you get in your car and drive 20 to 30 minutes to your next PT. by the end of the day you've been working 8 to 12 hours, but lucky if you'll be paid for 3-5. Then you check your VM & receive a message, that your supervisor is calling you in for an "investigation" You must go into the CP office on your own time, and own gas, without any compensation for either your precious time or millage, to be asked "questions" related to something that happened while you were at work. How fair is that? I also hear that "new hires" are being given hrs. in place of workers that have sonority & should have been asked first. Those care plan books we sign in too when we visit a pt. tell me this. I've spoken to PSW's that live in basement apartments & use food banks at times to help them make ends meet. I don't understand how we are expected to take care of the needs for the pts we are sent to see, while the needs of CarePartner PSW's are not being met. This is why we see such a high percentage of "worker turnover".
I will continue to try to make things better, and certain areas have improved, but we still have a long way to go. Thank you SEIU for being there for us!

Enough is enough. We have let them get away with things for too long and they now think they can always do as they please. Since Care Partners took over the emphasis is on their bottom line. If it is going to dip into the profits we don't do it. Thus we have no Christmas party/ no food & water at in-services/ not even a Timmy's card thank you for a job well done. No recognition at all. I think they should change their name to DON'T Care Partners.

I see there are not very many signatures on the petition.....this is exactly why things don't change......lack of support from co workers....or lack of interest.....people complaining about working conditions .....but all they do is complain.....they don't make the employer accountable for non compliance of the CA and labor law.......and blaming the union for everything.....this petition is a joke......this will give Care Partners the upper hand if this is presented at Provincial.....

I have been denied my 2 week vacation for the first time in four years. They said that I can only have 1 week in august and the other in September. I want and need 2 weeks together in the summer I am not impressed with this decision.

We were promised a $4.00 pay increase over 3 yrs, starting in 2014, so far we have rec'd $1.50 as of Apr 1, 2014, still waiting for retro increase of $1.50 from Apr. 1, 2015, now we are told there is a cap at $19.00/hr, - there was no cap on initial agreement. In addition, since they have gone to determining our travel time, km's. etc. that never matches what km's I actually drive, the gps must have been done, as the crow flies! .. Iris Tracy

Never had any kind of issues, Im signing the petition to support all the PSW's who have them. I have a very good knowledge of the collective agreement, after +20 years of work, I , most of the times, tell the schedulers how to organize my clients, whenever possible, so i dont have to waste time and km going back and forth, most of them don't have a clue what is like to be out in the road, I take matters in my hands and I fight for my money and my hours if necessary.

Tired of all this bs, filed a grievance back in Sept when I lost 16 hours bi weekly for no reason they claim to be liable for 5 hours and still havent even received that. Having to use my vacation days when I have an appointment and being denied summer holidays because of seniority like come on 19 people have to retire before me before I ever get a vacation in the summer.

This has been something that happens to me as well.
They keep asking me to work outside of my availability overnights, mornings, instead of my agreed 3-11.
Ofen I am not compensated for the miles I travel because I am on Home First and only see one client even if that client is outside of my geographical area. the reporting process is confusing and what I put in the blackberry report does not get acknowledged.
This past weekend the schedulers gave away 3-11 shift to someone who usually works 11-7 so she could work a 7-3 and i ad to pick up 11-7 or be out of hours which i cannot afford to do.
