People have no remorse for dogs but at the end of the day it's the same dogs who protects and guard their property while they are sleeping peacefully at night....its so sickening

The City of Cape Town needs to ban this celebration which has zero relevance to South Africans and is proven over and over again to cause incredible angst to animals, waste city resources and further endanger people and animals in poorer communities. I can't understand why a forward thinking city like Cape Town would still allow this?

Guy Fawkes is an old English tradition. No fireworks were ever used just a bonfire and Guy Fawkes on top. He was a terrorist that tried to blow up the house's of parliament. Why is this custom even in South Africa? Too many irresponsible people with fireworks. Needs to stop.

as a child I would sit by my dog holenyt and during the day because of fireworks I never celebrated it as I was more worried about my dogs cries And today I'm married with a little baby girls of 8months and 4dogs that I literally have to babysit the moment ppl start bursting just here in the road my baby girl gets frightened and so does my does how can we human be so inconsiderate about our animals it causes their death I witnessed once how a dog was thrown with a firework and he ran into a car where the car drove over him now how can we celebrate fireworks if we killing our own animals cause we know they scared I'm against for works pls banned it !

The celebrations of this event is irrelevant in the South African context and has become a negative and even more destructive addition to criminal and social ill. It should simply be banned and not even considered part of the norm of societal activities.

Please BAN this senseless act of fireworks that only causes thousands of animals to go missing and the fear they have to endure during guy fawkes and any other time. This is only causes endangerment to little children & our pets. Some communities the children are tieing crackers to dog & cat tails. Imagine the fear of torture these aniamls have to endure. Some animals jump over walls to run away and getting lost. This causes our animals extra funds to be spent and they already on tight budgets. Truth is there so many negative to this celebration (which you cannot even call it a celebration becoz there is nothing to be celebrared) and no positives at all. Please save our children, our pets, unecessary resources for fire departments , other goverment depts & ban this sales of firework!! Restricted areas will never solve this problem boz millions of citerzens are not responsible to see the danger the causing our pets & communities. Thank you!!

I am for the banning of this! These people don't even know what pagan practice they're partaking of. Where are the adults to step in and educate the kids about this fallen and dangerous practice so that it can come to an end?? Every year I have to almost overdose my dogs on calming tablets and have them in the house, that's how terrified they are! Enough is enough!!

Guy Fawkes Night has no relevance to South Africa and people cannot be trusted to handle explosives responsibly, and need I mention the trauma to animals with their sensitive hearing? Please ban the sale of fireworks in SA!
