There is NO other reason not to ban this totally ridiulous practise other than its another money making racket. People and animals get injured without fail year after year!!

There is no point to guy fawkes. It’s a waste of money, it’s bad for the environment, noise pollution and then of course you get stupid people doing stupid things and often cruel things too. Guy fawkes scares our animals and injures them too. As a citizen of this country I stand together with all the other citizens and plead for an end to this! Guy fawkes must end. It should be illegal to sell and buy fireworks!

Guy fawkes needs to be banned in cape town...on sunday someone threw a bom under our window and it got cracked....the poor dogs are terrified...

My dog ripped my gate off its hinges last year guy fawkes who pays for this damage as the government is failing us by not banning fireworks. In the Cape Flats we cannot tell the difference between a gunshot and fireworks

Animals suffer. It is a danger to our environment and people due to fire risk. It has nothing to do with SA.

End it.It is not a South African celebration.Never mind the Chinese importing,they will survive as they import lots of other things too.And too many animals and children are injured every year.Veld ,house and shack fires occur every year because of them and this costs the city money .Additionally more staff are needed to patrol to ensure compliance with bylaws regarding fireworks so overtime is having to be paid too.Injuries occurring in townships ,estates cost the city money too as the local clinics will be flooded with patients,therefore more resources needed.If the animals don't matter then think of the rate payers money being used because of guy fawkes.

Fireworks are beautiful, just nowhere near our kids and pets, and the paint, egg, nugget smearing/ throwing needs to end too, kids and even grown ups barely want to leave their homes...
