We have all been made aware of the citations that have been issued against FCP regarding the teachers, staff, and students not wearing masks while indoors during the school day. Thus far, the parents' opportunity to speak out on the subject has been somewhat limited. Though our Director and her team have been doing an amazing job fighting for our children to continue to be able to learn, play, and interact uninhibited by masks, FCP continues to receive citation after citation and be subjected to ongoing site visits from the State related to these so-called "violations."
This petition has been started by parents of FCP students of our own volition. This is our opportunity to come together and provide the FCP staff with documentation to substantiate their statement that we are like-minded in our firm opposition of masking our children AND the staff.
This is a statement by the parents, guardians, and caregivers of the students at Foothills Christian Preschool (FCP) in El Cajon, California that we:
1. Oppose any and all requirements for our children, whatever their age, to be masked at FCP; and
2. Oppose any and all requirements for the teachers and staff of FCP to be masked at FCP.
As parents, we likely have varying reasons for insisting that our children not be masked at school, therefore, we have not included specific motivations within this petition. However, please feel free to leave your thoughts in the comments section below.

I agree that our children and staff should not be required to wear masks. Our children are still developing their speech and diction and one way they do that is by mimicking the mouth movements they see. If someone is wearing a mask then that will hinder our children’s leading.
I will not coparent with the government. Parents have a choice to send their children to a school that requires masking or not. Due to a myriad of proven health & developmental challenges that come along with prolonged mask wearing, I formally back FCPs stance to allow responsible parents to make this choice.
I have 15+ years of experience in early childhood education and masking them AND our teachers is detrimental to their development in so many long term ways. It is vital that our children see faces fully in order to learn correctly. My child will never wear a mask! We chose FCP because the teachers and children weren’t required to be masked and we fully support their rights. Keep the government out of our families and let us make the choice that is right for our children.
I feel masks serve a good purpose though I don’t believe it should be the responsibility of (any) preschool staff to be the enforcers of such requirement. Their job is hard enough to teach, no need to add to that.
I believe that wearing a mask at school is a personal/parental choice, and that masking children is harmful to their development and learning environment . I stand in agreement against a mask mandate for our children, teachers and staff.
Please end the mandate to mask preschool children. Preschools cannot enforce making because according to California state law, making a 2 year old and younger violates their civil rights.

Masks should be the choice of the individual / parent. They should not be required, especially at such a young age when the masks become germ factories with everything else throughout the day.
