Take back UK-NARIC Accreditation from North Cyprus University
UK-NARIC, The UK Accreditation agency has deviated from its previous stance and started recognising degrees awarded by Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) since March 2009, taking as reference Turkey's accrediatation agency. This is unacceptable not least because - Turkey should not have authority to accredit universities in Cyprus. - The Cyprus governement had already proposed to have a centralised accrediation system for the whole island and at least one university in the north was seriously considering this offer. - The university in question (EMU) is not of good academic standing. With very few publications when compared to the number of academics and an intake of the lowest ranked students from Turkey, this is an institution that effectively sells diplomas not one that provides education nor one that embraces research. We urge you to sign our petition so that we can express our concern to UK-NARIC, the UK accrediation agency.
