The administration officially approved the Thumb Rule today. I am so relieved we finally have a dress code that actually makes sense for our school days. Thank you for helping me change this policy for all of us.

Lets make spaghetti straps okay and allow shorts to be shorter than your fingertips! Einstein Middle School students want to be comfortable and expressive when at school, especially in the hotter days. We think tank tops and shorts that are longer than the tip of your longest finger should be okay in warmer weather. Our new idea is called the Thumb Rule. The Thumb Rule allows shorts to be longer than the tip of your thumb when arms are relaxed and tank tops to be wider then your thumb. We understand teacher's thoughts about dress codes, and we understand why they think we should have them. The Thumb Rule respects that, but also makes our rules more realistic and middle school student approved! Sign our petition if you agree that the Thumb Rule should be made at EMS!

I have been hearing from so many of you about how uncomfortable the classrooms get when the heat rises. My own friends are tired of feeling restricted by rules that do not reflect the reality of our school day. I am currently putting together a formal proposal to show the administration exactly how the Thumb Rule solves these problems for everyone.

Seeing so many students get behind the Thumb Rule reminds me why I started this in the first place. You all prove that we deserve to be comfortable while we learn.

I'm glad someone is doing this. Hopefully this makes everyone feel more accepting off their bodies no matter your body type.

I agree with this. The dress codes are sexist and need to be changed. All the rules apply to girls, and almost none to boys. CHANGE THE RULES!

I think the dress code is really stupid, because people including me get really warm in spring and the end of spring.

I was asked to do this, and honestly, I see no problem with this rule. It makes sure that the dress code can still be enforced, but extends the boundaries just a little bit.

Yes! I think also goes along with how girls are not provoking boys. Girls should not have to dress more conservatively in order to not distract boys. Stop making girls "cover up more" and teach the boys to focus!

I could not agree more I've seen to many girls get dress coded over silly things like seeing a thumb wide bra strap or a centimeter of belly. Hope the Thumb rule gets passed.
