On December 7, 2011, an illegal medical marijuana dispensary named "Triple A Wellness Center" opened on 1144 South Hope Street, Los Angeles California 90015, in a highly residential area of Downtown's South Park neighborhood.  The dispensary is located within 50 feet of three large condominium communities--Elleven, Luma, and Evo.  The dispensary plainly violates City Ordinance No.181069, which bars new dispensaries, and establishes that "[n]o collective shall be located on a lot abutting, across the street or alley from, or having a common corner with a residentially zoned lot or a lot improved with a residential use, including a mixed use residential building."

The dispensary, while new, is already creating problems for the residents of South Park.  The dispensary, which features a prominent neon-lit green sign advertising marijuana, has begun attracting vagrants and other elements who are plainly not purchasing marijuana for any legal, medical use.  The threat of increased criminality is imminent.  Moreover, the dispensary threatens the property values of these three communities, which represent hundreds of millions of dollars of residential real estate.

The City Council, City Attorney, and Police Department are aware of the problem.  But without community support, the "Triple A Wellness Center" is just one of hundreds of illegal dispensaries in the city and therefore a low priority.  We can change this. Residents in Elleven, Luma and Evo are presently organizing to take action to close this dispensary down immediately.  Show your support by signing this petition to shut down the "Triple A Wellness Center."

Get them out. Illegal is illegal. Rules exist for a reason and you cant just set up shop in the middle of a residential block!!

Ridiculous that they even opened here. The neon sign is annoying and the people loitering outside at night are making me feel unsafe to walk my dog.

This place is a total nuisance. We have kids living in these buildings and dont need this kind of traffic right outside our front doors. Shut it down.
