Citizens of Elk City, Kansas are trying hard to keep the water plant open and operating. KDHE and the EPA are wanting Elk City to sign away the city's water rights and tie in with Rural water 23 out of Fredonia. This brings many concerns to our town as far as increased water rates as well as poor water supply from 23.

The city had fallen short on some tests and needed somethings fixed. The new city council and city employee's have worked hard to correct what was needed to and KDHE still doesn't want Elk City to have a water plant anymore. Elk City has an endless water supply that has never went dry when other towns are put on water restrictions, Elk City has been fine. Another concern is fires, a local town around here who just recently was forced to tie in with another water district had to watch a home burn to the ground, they drained the water tower and could do no more to help. Thankfully no one was hurt. Elk City will have limitation and restrictions incurred with being at the end of the line, meaning, if water runs low, Elk City will be the first to feel the loss.

Help Elk City keep the water plant in full swing and our water rights, its the best thing for the little town.
