I agree that lunch and recess should be an opportunity for the students to socialize.If there is a concern about volume or behavior staff should take that opportunity to model the proper way to communicate in a school setting. Developing relationships and learning social etiquette should be a part of their school experience.

I strongly disapprove of SRS administrators employing a "silent lunch" and/or "silent recess" on the students. It is an uncreative and punitive approach to keeping order during the only social time our children get during the school day.
