The parole board doesn't look st the things inmates have accomplished inside the prison they only focus on the crime they were convitcted of so there is no chance for rehabilitation if that's all the board will look st

A state cannot or should not have disparity in sentencing such as our Old Law/New Law system has created. We are smarter than that.
Furthermore, to the individuals facing the disparity directly, "the severity of the crime" cannot change. The law , nor punishment, can or seeks to change the crime (except perhaps its prevention or interruption) but the person can change or at least that is implied in the concept of REhabilitation. Even if they have years "in the system" and "know people" and now work to reliably use measures of prediction, that was not what was included for consideration. You can, of course, consider the nature of the offense but, weighing it against the changes an individual can demonstrate, alone and with social support, should be what is used for such determinations. To do otherwise, reduces hope, causes additional division in the prison population, and harms families, not to mention costs taxpayers even more.
Release old law prisoners demonstrating change and interest and social connections NOW.
We know what punishment looks like. Let's see what compassion looks like and model for the society kindness and thoughtful reflection about wrongdoing, harm, and restoration.

Ohio has 2 Sentencing Laws.
When the law was changed in 1996, it left behind those already sentenced... They should have been 'Grandfathered' in. Initially, they were intended to be, but the Parole Board got wind of it and squelched the move.
So now Old Law prisoners are languishing away in prison, when the New Law prisoners are/will be released when their sentence TIME is up.
In addition to those serving as much as double the time they should be, at a cost of $25,000 a year per prisoner, we are paying six figure incomes to the Parole Board members, when the New Law was designed to eliminate the Parole Board.

When it comes to the parole board my question is ,when do you honor the sucess of the prison system ?when it shows that the person has met all the requirements and is now living the life of being rehabilitated, which give the prison system an sucess story.Allowing this person to enter back in to society teaching others crime is not the answer, who can teach better than a person that has learned a lesson, let life experience be a part of teaching others the righteous way to go , respecting the law, as you respect one another than our communities will grow healthy . Or is the parole board about numbers and not rehabilitation? Yes get rid of the old law.

They are not fair. when you go up for your first time the answer is always no and give more time. Even if they have not been in any trouble and are doing everything that is asked of them on a daily basis. The judges give a time and that's what it should be nothing more. Get rid of this old law.

Something needs to be done with the parole board and their refusing to grant paroles except to a very small percentage. It seems they have too much power with no oversite. It is a difficult position but they have closed off all hope for paroles and refuse to see the person but rather see them as just a number.

I believe everyone should serve time for a crime but when you get a 15 to life sentence and you have served twenty-seven years without getting into any trouble I think they deserve a second chance. Especially when a prison guard said they wish they had more prisoners like him - stays to himself and gets into no trouble. Still cannot figure out how the the parole board gives him 5 more years the last time he was up for parole when the previous time he was up for parole he got only 3 years especially when he hasn't gotten into any trouble but has taught classes, built bocce courts and helps out at prison functions. It is time to take another look at the old law offenders.

I feel that when people get denied after a parol hearing there consequence the majority of the time is overly disporportionate with the sentence. And every body deserves a second chance thank you!!!!!
