South Carolina Legislation has tongue tied the language of our Corrective system to fight its purpose. This petition is the beginning of many, and the pinnacle to bringing back true second chances for those who earn them. This petition is to Change the language of Title 24-13-100 "No Parole Offenses" and to redact the language in Title 24-13-125 "....This percentage must be calculated without the application of earned work credits, education credits, or good conduct credits..." This pivotal legislation is what ultimately influences correction and rehabilitation in the minds of the incarcerated.
