Elect Katherine O'Shea to the JPNC

My name is Katherine O’Shea, and I’m a 24 year old JP resident running for an Area C seat on the JPNC. I’ve been living in Jamaica Plain since September, and lived in Mission Hill for two years before that.
I graduated in 2020 from the University of Connecticut with a Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering. I now work in downtown Boston for an engineering consulting firm as a transportation engineer. Through my job, I’ve gained experience coordinating with private and public agencies and have become familiar with the development process. I would bring to the council technical knowledge related to traffic impact analysis, parking supply and demand, and site design. Additionally, I frequently attend trainings and conferences to stay knowledgable about progressive transportation and urban design policies.
Local councils and other decision making groups are often comprised of long time residents and property owners, resulting in an entire age demographic that is underrepresented. As a young renter and new JP resident, I would bring a fresh perspective to the council.
I am confident in my ability to represent the neighborhood and work with the council to initiate meaningful change and improve the lives of our residents. I hope I can count on your vote!
