We, the undersigned, petition you to initiate legislation to protect children affected by violent crime, within in the education system. We are not asking that victims and secondary victims take priority, by getting their first choice school. We are asking that all children be safeguarded and protected from the future torment of being in the same school as the convicted offenders family. Thereby allowing all involved to concentrate on their education and not be faced with the past every day. Every child has a right to an education in an establishment where they feel safe and can learn to the best of their abilities. The duress placing these children in the same schools could cause will seriously affect their learning, and disregards their well being. No parent should be forced to stand at the school gates, with children who have been affected by violent crime, and be faced with the perpetrators family every day. CHILDREN SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPERCUSSIONS OF VIOLENCE.
