I have spent this week drafting formal inquiries to the D.C. Council regarding these budget reallocation plans. My next step is to coordinate with school advisory team leads to ensure we have a unified position for our upcoming hearing.

The increased visibility of this petition has prompted a response from the committee chairs who oversee district budgeting. My focus shifts now to preparing the formal brief for our upcoming meeting to demand the 3.5 percent funding adjustment.

East Of The River schools deserves higher funding and equal learning curriculum just like the white affluent schools in the District. This is a disgrace and classifies as discrimination.
I feel like its wrong how much money the government can take from ward 8 and 7 but not the more wealthy wards like 4 and 5.
It breaks my heart that East of the River Schools are losing so much funding considering the needs of the students and families that attend these schools. We must do better! #eastoftheriverschoolsmatter
All students should truly have the opportunity to receive a truly quality education. Cutting use gets in the most vulnerable areas surely undercuts their ability and opportunity to receive quality education.
I'd like to see an equitable distribution of school funding per student and break out budget line items for building improvements/renovations as that may skew the distribution.
People need to stop killing people

DCPS local school budgets are extremely inequitable, differing by thousands of dollars per pupil for the general education services that should be similar for all. We are advocating to correct this AND to get more funding for schools in low-income neighborhoods. Call the Chancellor's Office, call your Councilmember, come and testify in April.
