We, the undersigned, petition the Southern Downs Regional Council to make the funding available to make the necessary repairs to the fountain that was erected in the Condamine River in rememberance of the 28 men in the region who marched in the Dungaree March to Brisbane and on to war for this country.

Updates

January 18, 2010

The stories shared about the Dungaree March participants remind us why this monument remains a vital part of our local history. Quiet discussions with council representatives are currently underway to ensure the fountain receives the attention it requires.

The response to this initiative has surpassed my initial expectations. It is encouraging to see such collective interest in preserving the history of the Dungaree March. We will maintain this momentum as we prepare to present our case to the Council.

Can we please just get this fountain running again? It looks like a complete eyesore in the river right now and those men deserve better.

Its a disgrace that this is sitting there broken. My grandfather was in that march and he would be ashamed of the council for letting it rot.
