To: The Local Authority in Ealing and the Local Police

Subject: Immediate Action Needed to Combat Rising Drug-Related Crime in Acton Hill

We, the members of the Acton Hill Resident’s Association and concerned citizens, urgently call for your attention regarding the alarming surge in drug-related crime in our community. The prevalent drug dealing, car break-ins, burglary, shop-lifting, open drug consumption and dealing [including discarded syringes, foil and other associated paraphernalia] have severely impacted our quality of life and sense of safety, not to mention the impact on our children.

Despite known problem areas, there seems to be insufficient action from local authorities and police. This inaction erodes community trust and allows criminal activities to thrive without fear of consequences.

Our Demands:

  1. Increased Police Patrols: Regular and visible patrols in problem areas to deter criminal activities and reassure residents.
  2. Targeted Operations: Dedicated operations to disrupt local drug dealing networks, employing undercover and intelligence-led policing.
  3. Community Policing: Initiatives involving residents in crime prevention, such as neighbourhood watch schemes and regular police-community meetings.
  4. Improved Lighting and CCTV: Better street lighting and strategic CCTV installation to deter criminal activities.
  5. Support Services for Addicts: Provision of counselling, rehabilitation, and support services for addicts within our community.
  6. Regular Updates and Transparency: Frequent updates on progress and transparent communication between authorities and residents.

Conclusion:

The current situation is unsustainable and demands your immediate attention. We urge you to take our concerns seriously and act swiftly to restore peace and security in Acton Hill. Our community deserves to live in a safe environment, and we trust that our call for action will be met with prompt and effective responses.

I have scheduled an initial meeting with the local policing lead to present the documentation of recent incidents provided in the comments section. We are currently formalizing a request for a review of the existing CCTV infrastructure to identify gaps in street coverage.

We have a young daughter and another on the way. The open use of drugs on our road makes me feel unsafe with my children. These people need help and being left to their own devices clearly isn’t good for them or for the community.

The drug trade in Acton affects our families' safety and drags down the general safety of the neighbourhood. Behind kids playground in Springfield garden, outside School back gates on Newburgh Road , Acton Hil, railway bridge pedestrian crossing, outside Mac Donalds, Acton Park etc. Surely something can be done...

As a local PT I have noticed a rise in blatant drug dealing in the community, in particular behind Morrison’s and the block of flats (where the Morrison’s delivery vans access the back of the supermarket), by Acton Central train station and in the parks. Some of the dealers/runners look the age of school children

We are fed up and constantly on guard . Elderly residents have been robbed whilst putting the rubbish out and these opportunistic criminals think it’s easy to walk into their house and take what the like… probably to sell to make money for their drugs…

This has been going on for years. I have reported it in the past especially one day when I saw one of the dealers persuading a very young woman with obvious learning difficulties to go into the flat with him. No one ever responded. Shocking.

The high visibility of drug use in the area even in the day gives the impression that the streets are awash with serious drugs and that the perpetrators are able to carry on with such activities with impunity . This is not the “norm” we want to live in or bring children up in.

I’m fed up with the countless crimes in my area. It’s not safe here anymore. What can be done about it?
