My name is Nikita. I was born in Jamaica. My grand aunt, which was my caregiver from birth, passed away when i was fifteen years old. I am now eighteen years of age and adopted by my aunt and uncle. My current family has a strong military base here in the US and after i graduated from high school, i wanted the chance to do the same. We tried countless attempts for my status to be changed but the letters always came back negative. I was told recently that if i do join the Military, it could help with my status and i thought it could be a good way to work for the opportunity to be here. But after talking to a recruiter, he said it does not work like that anymore. I started this petition for the chance to hopefully get a waiver so i could join the Air Force.
