Under the proposed North Carolina DOT TIP project #U-2826B Alternative 9 (the NCDOT Preferred Alternative), access to Winston-Salem\'s downtown area will be closed off at 3rd, 4th and 5th Streets from US Highway 52. We propose the use of Alternative 12 instead, which includes most of the improvements listed in Alternative 9, with the exception of neighborhood destroying changes along Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd and the ramp closures at 3rd, 4th and 5th Streets. These closures would effectively destroy traffic to Downtown in conjunction with the upcoming changes to Business 40. HELP SAVE DOWNTOWN!
