I have went to each festival we held at the courthouse square since I moved here 10 years ago, my family is just getting started and we love going to the square for each one. I would love for it to stay the same, it's beautiful there and plenty of shade outdoors unlike the fairgrounds which is mostly 4H thing. It would be an eyesore if things were held there instead, no shade, mosquitos. I doubt I would attend any more festivals if they were held there. We're not Bloomington, we are a small sweet community.

Spencer finally has a beautiful & thriving downtown. Let’s be proud of our Courthouse Square and continue to welcome festivals on the lawn.
And hopefully someday bring the APPLE BUTTER FESTIVAL back to the Courthouse lawn!

Six years ago my husband, Lawrence and I, hosted his Peace Corps group from 1963-65. They stayed four days and their reunion was Apple Butter time. On Saturday they had free time and most of them came in to Spencer, celebrated the festival, toured the newly restored Tivoli, and genuinely loved the activities and their visit to our beautiful town. Many are returning this year the same weekend, all hoping a trip to the square and surroundings to enjoy the Apple Butter Festival. I am sorry to learn that they will miss the Festival being on the square, but I am happy that they will be able to visit the new downtown with its added stores and restaurants. Hopefully this wonderful event will return to where it belongs next year, that being where it originally began. on the town square.

I was saddened to hear the AppleButter was leaving the square. Now there's a possibility of all other festivals leaving it as well? Seems like such a backwards way of thinking, considering all the work that's gone into restoring/revitalizing our downtown. I support any effort to continue having our small town festivals at the square.

I encourage festivals to stay in downtown Spencer. Festivals are a GREAT way to get MORE people downtown and helps with the ECONOMIC value of Spencer.

Spencer needs to keep festivals and events in an easy to access area,such as the square. There also needs to be a growth of events to bring people to town to support our community.
