To the Editor, The Independent
Now we are engaged in
Iraq War III, will British and coalition forces only use ‘proportionate’ force,
drop leaflets on civilian areas and send text messages to warn of impending strikes?
If your correspondents venture in to the war zone, will they report on the
civilian casualties, but time and again fail to mention the difficult task of
striking Islamist terrorists who hide themselves and their weapons amongst the
people, their mosques, schools and hospitals? Will they fail to provide the
context that these intolerant ideologues would wipe us and our western,
democratic civilisation off the face of the Earth, if given half the chance?
It would be deeply
embarrassing after all, having lectured Israel on how to respond to Islamic
terrorists on her borders, that your reporters would only choose to make
mention of these points, now that it’s our own brave forces that are fighting an
enemy with such an Islamist ideology.
For the record, we the
undersigned, support all those in this campaign against IS but appeal to the
media not to apply double standards to Israel when forced to deal with Hamas, a
proscribed Islamist terrorist organisation, intent on the indiscriminate death
and destruction of it’s citizens and cities.
FINALLY. Someone said it. Why is it always okay for us but wrong for them? The double standards are ridiculous.
