70% of arrested drunk drivers in Erie County have their charges plead down to violations. How about actually convicting the drunks rather than trying to punish the law abiding public?

Stop trying to control OUR FUN! We pay 30,000 a year for tuition and bring in millions of dollars moving from state to state to go to college, we have a right to be able to party till 4am!!!!!

Keeping the bars open until 4 is what sets us apart from so many cities. And bad things happen at 11 as much as they do at 4am.

Let's see some statistics on the number of people coming in to drink form other counties at 2 AM, before we accept these claims from a grandstanding politician.

I moved here in '88. I was attending UB and was on the Deans list twice. I graduated in 94. What is beautiful about the 4am closing is that, as a student, I could stay in and do my work--be it reading, writing, or participating in a study group--and still go out and enjoy a night life. The 4am closing adds to a more varied and enlivened quality of life, not just for students, but for anyone who works in something other than the 9 - 5. I don't see how any member of a ruling body in the city/county who is concerned about bringing in revenue and assuring that people have decent jobs and income would approve changing the law as it is and making the bars and taverns and nightclubs close their doors at 2 am. It behooves the legislature to include in the hearing a testimony or report showing the loss of revenue that a 2 am closing hour would incur. I hardly think the same legislature would like to consider a new tax to make up the difference. I strongly urge that members of the legislature vote AGAINST forcing the taverns, bars, saloons to close their doors at 2 am. This is an important aspect of that which makes this city unique.
