the school finally backed down and changed the uniform policy for the skirts. honestly im still in shock but thank you to everyone who stood with me on this because we actually won.

On the birthday of famed suffragette Millicent Fawcett, all the year 10 girls at Comberton Village College are made to be ashamed of being women. All skirts have to be knee length, but the skirts provided by the school uniform providers are designed to stop before reaching the knee. Head of year 10, Mrs Phull, claimed that "you can see their bum cheeks" and I have a reply to that statement:
1. No, you can't.
2. Why would you even look?
3. These are the skirts that the school insists we buy - they even have the school logo on them!
Stop sexualising 14-15 year olds.

I am appalled that the school is so ignorant of sizing, and general shapes of their own Pupils that they enter into a contract with a uniform provider that is against their own school 'rules' surely that must be either ignorance or stupidity.
I’m leaving this school soon and I’m glad, the real issue here is the sexualisation of children, and encouraging young people to do the same- if boys are told it’s ok to be destracted and objectify women we are only perpetuating the sexism that’s already woven into society
if you're sexualising the knees of girls in a school environment aged between 11-16, clearly we're not the problem, and you are. Boys can wear shorts above the knee, but yet if we do it its 'provocative'? We're not letting this double standard go any more
there are actually girls in my year that wear their skirts so high or they alter them to make them so tight that they can't tuck their jumpers in and you can actually see their butt shape so i see where ms phull was heading. However, i don't see why they blamed the whole school for it.
Correctly worn skirts should not be forced down by teachers. If this is in line with school uniform policy then the policy must be challenged. We do not live in the 1950s and should be respectful and progressive not restrictive. Dialogue improves understanding.

You realise this is not a gender issue. If a boy was to wear a skirt he would follow the same rules as everyone else (not above the knee) and if a girl wears shorts they are allowed above the knee. It's not gender issue but a clothing and school rules issue. And leave us boys alone we're nothing to do with it

Even though I’ve technically left now I can 100% agree with this. The school skirts are provided by the school so if they want us to wear them then they need to ssshhh. If being able to “see our bum cheeks” is an issue then let’s us wear jeans where they are properly covered :)
