Whereas:
Domestic Violence is an ever growing epidemic and seems to be out of control with no possible solution as far as we have tried with jail sentences, batterer treatment programs, counseling and for that effect countless attempts to eradicate it from our society with no avail, but no one has tried warning future potential victims.
Therefore:
I Elizabeth Oyola the creator of this petition and a survivor of domestic violence along with other victims, survivors and concerned citizens fully supporting this idea, request that a law and registry be put into effect immediately.
Whereas:
Domestic Violence offenders been convicted of a misdemeanor or a felony shall be required to register as part of their sentencing or plea bargain, for the rest of their lives and wherever they live.
Therefore:
This registry will help any individual to be aware if they are possibly involved with a batterer and therefore we will have the possibility of helping in the decrease of this epidemic.
I started this because I felt like I had no other options but hearing your stories makes me realize how many of us have been carrying this weight in silence. The people I have talked to behind the scenes are finally starting to listen because they see how many of you care about safety. This is all happening because you decided to speak up alongside me.

This is so overdue. People deserve to know who they are getting involved with before it is too late.
